And what better way to view the land than a road trip straight through the heart of it all? This region is just made for road-tripping.
So, get the car started and prepare yourself for rugged coastlines and glorious country roads on a trip of a lifetime. Here’s a guide to Europe’s best road trips:
ROME – VENICE
DISTANCE: 540 MILES
Italy’s probably known best for its fantastic food and wine, but behind all the pizza and prosecco, there’s also incredible scenery just begging to be explored. Its historic cities of Rome and Venice create the perfect road trip route, with iconic monuments and ancient masterpieces at every stop along the way. You’ll need to grab your travel pillow and home comforts to make your way along the picturesque coastlines, before dipping through remote valleys and lakes as you reach the tourist hotspot of Venice.
