Hall St. Helena is to Napa Valley what The Whitney Museum of American Art is to New York. A beautiful winery that also substitutes as a museum of contemporary and modern art. From the moment you drive into the property, you are greeted with art from Lawrence Argent’s Bunny Foo Foo to John Baldessari’s Camel (Albino) Contemplating Needle, 2013. Owned by the Hall family, who are avid art collectors, there is art everywhere to be found. Unique to Hall St. Helena, they even have art inside their wine making facility featuring Jim Drain & Ara Peterson’s Pinwheels 2013.
The critically acclaimed artisan wines from Hall Wines and WALT Wines are crisp and some of the most delicious wine we tasted in Napa. Throughout the tour we had the opportunity to taste four varieties of wines. A fresh white wine and 3 delicious deep reds. It’s no wonder their wines have won numerous accolades including now, two coveted 100-point “perfect scores.” This winery should definitely be on everyone’s list.
After this tour, I just had to pre-order Craig and Kathryn Hall’s latest book A Perfect Score: The Art, Soul, and Business of a 21st-Century Winery to learn more about their love of Art and their wine philosophy.
