There are so many options on where to dine and drink in Greenwich Village. To make it easier for you to choose the greatest spots, I’ve put together the best Greenwich Village Restaurant & Bar Guide. If you want to learn more about Greenwich Village’s history, get my e-book or watch my video on it below.
Of course, if you’d like a local to show you around New York’s best food then you can join my food tour!
The official list of the best Greenwich Village Restaurants & Bars
Bleecker Street Pizza
Bleecker Street Pizza has been rated the best in New York by Food Network and the New York Post, and on the top five list for the New York Times. It is no wonder it makes the list of Greenwich Village’s best restaurants! The pizza shop was started by an ex-cop in the ’90s and is famous for their Nonna Maria Slice. Seriously, do not order anything else! The Nonna Maria slice is something you can’t miss.
Luis and I love this slice of pizza so much that we even created a video showing you how to make it from home. So if you’re not in NYC and you want to try it, click here for the recipe.
The Grey Dog
The Grey Dog originally started as a coffee shop about 20 years ago. Today they serve delicious locally produced food (most of which is farm-to-table). They also recently expanded into a bar! I’ve never ordered something I didn’t love here so I encourage you to check it out. Also, watch my episode of GoDaddy’s School of Hustle with the co-founder, Dave Ethan, to learn the inspiring (and funny) story of how they started the restaurant.
Murray’s Cheese
Murray’s Cheese has over 300 varieties of cheese in the shop at any given time. If you are a lover of charcuterie boards and all things cheese-related then this must be on your list of best spots to check out in Greenwich Village. If you’re looking for a deeper cheese experience, book their cheese cave tour. You’ll get to try some of their custom cheeses and learn how they are made in Long Island City. Watch the video below to see that experience.
Big Gay Ice Cream
Big Gay Ice Cream was rated the number one ice cream in the USA by US Today and it sure is delicious. I had to include it on the best Greenwich Village restaurant & food guide for that reason! It started as a food truck in 2009 and today they have multiple locations throughout NYC. Get their “Salty Pimp”. It is a vanilla ice cream cone injected with dulce de leche, lightly salted & dipped in chocolate shell. You won’t regret it!
Boucherie
Boucherie is a traditional French brasserie and steakhouse, celebrating Joie de Vivre in the heart of New York. The restaurant prepares a menu of French classics and timeless bistro favorites, in addition to the DRY-AGED STEAKS. They also have an extensive wine list, classic drinks, and absinthe-driven signature cocktails.
Boba Guys
Boba Guys serve some of the best bubble tea drinks in the city. I literally cannot walk past their cafe without stopping in for a refreshing tea – it is that good!
Employees Only
Employees Only is a speakeasy and dinner restaurant. What’s a speakeasy you may be asking yourself? It is a secret bar that is inspired by prohibition. Once you enter Employees Only you’ll be transported back to the 1920s. What makes this bar unique is that they not only serve excellent craft cocktails but also have a delicious dinner menu. Reservations required.
Magnolia Bakery
Magnolia Bakery has probably been featured in more movies and TV shows than any other bakery in Manhattan. Some New Yorkers may call it “overhyped” but I still can’t resist their buttermilk cupcakes. Yes, the bakery has been featured a lot but that doesn’t mean it is not good! Because of that, I had to include it in my best Greenwich Village restaurant and bar guide.
La Pasticceria Rocco
La Pasticceria Rocco is known for having the best cannolis in New York. This is because they wait until you order them to put the cream on the inside! With recipes originating from Southern Italy dating back to the late 1800s, it is no wonder their cannolis are the best! When you come to Rocco’s, you savor the very best of Authentic Italian Pastries. They’re also the very best in Cheesecakes, Pastries, Cookies, Italian Biscotti, and Gourmet Specialty Cakes. As of 2013, Rocco’s expanded into light fare with a breakfast and lunch menu. Rumor has it, our Pancakes are the best that people have ever had.
Blind Tiger Ale House
The Blind Tiger Ale House must be on your list if you’re a craft beer lover. They have 30 rotating craft beer drafts, 3 cask ale offers, and an extensive bottle selection. You could come here every day of the year and try a different beer.
