Top NYC Influencers Who Cover all Aspects of Life in the Big Apple

September 18, 2024 | Sarah Funky

New York offers endless opportunities for people to work, socialize, and play. For tourists and locals alike, though, the size of NYC can be daunting, and it’s the reason they turn to blogs like this one for advice. Thankfully, there are many “influencers” who can help out with guides to different facets of the city.

Influencing has, of course, evolved in recent years. Moreover, the lines have blurred between the outmoded concept of an influencer as someone who wants to sell you something and the more modern concept of being an expert or a guide in a certain field.

Those areas of expertise have evolved, too, meaning an influencer can be someone who deals with ubiquitous subjects like technology, such as Apple guru Marques Brownlee, or niche topics like casino gaming, with Stacy’s High Limit Slots a good example of an influencer in that area.

NYC, of course, boasts the full stratum of human activity, so in addition to my influencer content (@sarahfunky), here is a list of other NYC-based influencers in different fields, all of whom showcase the Big Apple in unique ways:

Natalie Zfat (@nataliezfat)

Thinking of working in NYC? Navigating the complexities of a city with a $2 trillion dollar economy can feel daunting. Natalie Zfat is an influencer (and entrepreneur) whose content will help you with everything from the best co-working spots in the city to the important networking events. While primarily on Instagram, her LinkedIn account is essential for those who want to make it in business in NYC.

Scott Lipps (@scottlipps)

NYC boasts a world-beating music and nightlife scene, yet it can feel overwhelming to outsiders. There are around 500 live music venues in the city, for instance. Scott Lipps is the go-to guy to guide you around all aspects of city nightlife, picking out the best clubs and music venues, as well as other arts events happening around the city.

Alexa Matthews (@eatingnyc)

With over 20,000 eating establishments in NYC, picking the best spots can be confounding. Alexa Matthews is a good guide to what’s good on New York plates, highlighting both trends establishments and hidden gems off the beaten track.

Alyssa Ramos (@mylifesatravelmovie)

Alyssa Ramos is a solo travel influencer who, while not solely focused on NYC, can provide indispensable advice for travelers to the city. What we love about Ramos is that her content is often geared toward solo traveling women, providing detailed itineraries, travel hacks, and unique experiences for adventures in NYC and beyond. If you are wondering, “Can I do this?”, visit her Instagram or blog to get an answer, “Yes, you can.”.

Ed Levine (@edlevineeats)

Founder of Serious Eats, we just had to mention Ed Levine as he is such a well-known authority on New York City’s pizza scene, charting the history of New York food and the best pizza joints in the city. His primary platform is Twitter/X, but his blog is invaluable too.

Danielle Bernstein (@weworewhat)

For the fashion-conscious, Danielle Bernstein has you covered with the latest style trends in the city. Bernstein is a fashion designer, entrepreneur, author, and just about everything in between, but she tends to have her finger on the pulse of what’s shaping fashion in the city. Sometimes she sets these trends herself.

Evan Joseph (@evanjoseph)

Want to learn more about the world’s most famous skyline? Or see the interiors of the most luxurious apartments in the city? Evan Joseph is arguably the leading architectural photographer of NYC, providing photos from above and below of buildings you must see.

Hannah Bronfman (@hannahbronfman)

Like others on this list, Hannah Bronfman is more than an influencer. She’s an entrepreneur and lifestyle guru, as well as part-time DJ. Much of her fitness and well-being content focuses on life in the city, pointing you to different fitness events, healthy spots to eat, and the best spots to work out.

David Tesch (@Alexa Matthews (@eatingnyc))

It might be wrong to call David Tesch an influencer. He’s more of a tech leader in the city, but his posts on Instagram and LinkedIn are invaluable to those wanting to learn about doing business in NYC. He has a huge influence over the NYC tech community, particularly early-stage investment in tech startups.
