KTCHN, the Hell’s Kitchen dining destination for New Yorkers and global travelers alike, located in The OUT Hotel, received a traditional Italian makeover this season. Diners can now enjoy a selection of Italian classics including meatballs, pastas and homemade thin crust pizza.

Enjoy we did. For a cold winter’s night, KTCHN certainly warmed our spirits – and we’re not just talking about their strong drinks. Always a pleasant surprise!

We started out with the most incredible crab cake we’ve ever had. For someone that doesn’t like crab, I practically licked my plate. It was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside with a bit of heat. I’m still dreaming about it!

Next, Pizza Bruschetta topped with tomato & parmesan and the Pizza Crostini with porcini mushrooms & truffle oil. We thought the Crostini was fantastic and would definitely order it again, the earthy truffle oil absolutely brought the dish to the next level.

We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Chef Crispin Mejia mid-course. Known by the community as the “King of 9th Avenue” he has fourteen years experience and has lent his culinary expertise to hot spots including Puttanesca and Le Zie, and is the co-owner of Crispin’s.

Chef Crispin pointed us toward two of his signature dishes, Rigatoni Bolognese and Branzino, so naturally we had to order them! The Bolognese was a tantalizing mixture of pork, veal, and beef with Pomodoro sauce enhanced by red wine. Our second favorite!

The Branzino was perfect – a delicate white fish with subtle flavor- our favorite! Our Branzino rested atop perfectly baked potatoes and broccoli rabe. The rabe was seasoned well and had no overpowering bitterness.

Dessert put the cherry-on-top of our incredible meal at KTCHN. We indulged in the classic Italian Tiramisu, which was the perfect close to our night.

We would give KTCHN an “A”. The modern atmosphere was complete with live music from a grand piano. The cuisine was well done, often better than expected. A great spot for date night or meeting up with friends.
