MODERN LUXURY IN A HISTORIC CITY:
WHY THIS IS THE BEST PLACE TO STAY IN PHILLY
THE LOEWS PHILADELPHIA HOTEL
There is no better place to stay when visiting Philadelphia than the Loews Hotel. Located in the heart of the city, it is in the perfect location to explore the metropolis. With an interesting history as the first skyscraper ever built in the area, Loews exudes contemporary décor, gracious hospitality and inviting luxury.
Immediately upon arrival, I was welcomed by smiling and friendly staff who not only helped me with my bag but were also able to check me into my room four hours early. It put me in a great mood to begin exploring the city! With my key card in hand, I headed up to the 29th floor and was thrilled to see the view from my room. The city stretched miles into the distance, I could see the powerful Benjamin Franklin Bridge (which is celebrating its 90th anniversary), the Delaware River, Historic Philadelphia and even into Delaware itself. It was breathtaking!
When Saturday morning came, we were looking for relaxing & luxurious experience so we ordered breakfast up to our room. Once again, the Loews staff exceeded expectations by setting up a beautiful table for two complete with fresh fruit, classic Eggs Benedict and organic teas. We felt like royalty munching on our delicious breakfast in our beautiful contemporary room overlooking the Philadelphia skyline. It was the perfect way to start the day!
After a long day out exploring (check out out Philly guide here), we headed back to the room and were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of white wine, fresh fruit, cheese & nuts, and a charming note from one of the staff members thanking us for our stay. Saying we were “thrilled” would be an understatement. It was exactly what we needed to finish our night.
Throughout the weekend we hopped in and out of the hotel, even stopping to have brunch at Bank & Bourbon. Located inside the Loews, it is one of the finest restaurants in the entire city, serving traditional American fare with a modern twist. The interior is rustic yet stylish with exposed pipes, wooden beams, and comfortable tufted leather banquettes. It was warm and inviting for the chilly autumn weather. The cuisine was homey and packed with flavor. See our full article here with more photos.
Since we were running around the city so much we didn’t get a chance to swim in their indoor lap pool or indulge in their spa treatments. During a free moment, I stopped in to check out what we were missing. Tropical trees lined the walls, and windows revealed a modern metropolis surrounding the warm pool area. If we had more time, we would have loved to lounge here.
Overall, the Loews will be my place to stay next time I visit Philly. Loews Hotels are located in 26 destinations around the US and Canada, which is something I will absolutely keep in mind during my travels. It is the perfect combination between a boutique hotel and a modern resort. To learn more about the Loews destinations check out their site here.
