Turn your dream into a reality – New York City weddings and engagements

August 27, 2021 | Sarah Funky

New York City is one of the most romantic places in the world. Celebrities and everyday people alike flock to the metropolis to tie the knot every single year – just look at actress Chloë Sevigny’s recent City Hall wedding, as covered by People magazine. The Big Apple is a vibrant city that has everything you need to ensure that every step of your journey down the aisle and beyond is special; whether that’s making a magical proposal, or enjoying an incredible wedding party.

Getting down on one knee

When it comes to asking the big question, it’s all about the ring. As you may know, New Yorkers love to splurge on engagement rings, however, it doesn’t matter what state you’re from – what matters is that you pick the ring that suits the love of your life best. Once you’ve picked out the perfect ring, New York City has tons of locations you can choose from; whether that’s the Empire State, the Brooklyn Bridge or Times Square. Or, for a more unique proposal, Martha Stewart suggests a trip to Coney Island.

The big day

What about the big day itself? From hotels, lofts and terraces, to waterfront venues and garden sites, New York City has a broad range of settings for any couple. Some of the most classic venues include City Hall and The Plaza Hotel. However, for more modern couples, Tribeca Rooftop, the NYC Public Library and, as suggested by The Cut, Gotham Hall offer something a little different.

Receptions and parties

No wedding is complete without its reception or, for some couples, the post-wedding party – New York City, famous for never sleeping, is perhaps the most ideal location. The time of year, the number of guests and of course your budget will have an impact on how you do this, but there’s no shortage of inspiration. Think of The Foundry; The Rainbow Room; Brooklyn Botanical Garden; or, how about the timeless American Museum of Natural History, as recently featured in Harper’s Bazaar.

From Coney Island to City Hall and through to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, NYC has so much to offer to those planning a wedding, and you will be bound to find something to suit your needs. The city can cater to every stage of the process, from engagement through to reception. The inspiration is right there on your doorstep.
