NOW YOU CAN ZIP-LINE OFF A MOUNTAIN
THE EAGLE FLYER
When I was told that I could zip-line off of the top of a mountain I knew I had to do it. Traditionally, i’ve enjoyed zip-lines, however, they struggle to exhilarate me. This was different. This was 3,700 feet long with a 1000 foot drop and went 50 miles an hour. I had to try it. Immediately.
The Eagle Flyer is nestled on a farm in the Adirondacks. Upon arrival, we were instructed to grab our equipment and board an Austrian Pinzgauer military off road vehicle that would bring us to the top of the mountain. Like most people, I had never been in one of these vehicles and quickly learned to appreciate the smooth ride of a regular car. The Austrian Pinzgauer vehicle was certainly an experience. It was very bumpy, however, since the sides are open it presented beautiful views of the forest.
After a 15 minute drive, we arrived at the boarding area and hooked our harnesses to the zip-lines. There are 4 zip-lines that allow guests to go together. This is a luxury as few zip-lines have this option. Normally the views from the top are stunning, however, it was foggy that day so we couldn’t see much. The guides told us that on a clear day they can see the surrounding mountain and lake.
A quick countdown and we were off. The first portion of the ride is exhilarating, then the second half is serene with gorgeous views of the tree tops. We did this right in the beginning of autumn so some of the tree were beginning to change color. In full foliage, the views would be unbelievable though. We recommend going in mid to late October to experience the full fall season.
Make sure to check out our video above of the whole experience. We’re sure you’ll love The Eagle Flyer!
